MY NEIGHBOR WELLINGTON

My purpose with this blog is to set the mood, a scenery of what Portugal was like during the years of the Napoleonic Wars. I want point out anything that I find interesting from those days, whether it is social, economical, military or about fashion.

I'm not here to write a biography of the man called Arthur Wellesley for it has been written before and you can find it on google and in the books in libraries. I'm just want to start this blog to refer to the person that I kindly call my neighbor, since the house where he lived while he was in Portugal fighting the French is right next door to me.

In Portuguese schools, unfortunately, this part of History isn't taught thoroughly, not the life in early 19th century Portugal and specially not the importance of the courage of the country's population. But let it be known, that I'll try and do it justice and share with the world (same as "writing-in-english") what this little corner of Europe went through.
